TOUR DESCRIPTION
An adventure to see Uganda’s bird-life, beauty, culture, landscapes and fascinating wildlife in just 8 days with an experienced guiding team. Driving through papyrus swamps, thick jungle forests, wildlife parks, rivers & lakes, you certainly won’t miss to see some of the 1000+ bird species found in Uganda. Kibale forest with over 375 species gives you a chance to view a number of these while on a primate walk to track the chimpanzees.
Boat trips along the Lake Albert &Kazinga Channel will make you come across a number of birds & wildlife. Driving along the Kasenyi& Queens Mile early in the morning, you will be able to see some of the Savannah birds. Queen Elizabeth Park is classified as an ‘Important Birding Area’ (IBA) by Birding International and has over 600 species. Spot the famous Ishasha tree climbing lions in Southern sector of Queen Elizabeth Park as you take the journey south to Bwindi.
The Impenetrable forest offers a perfect montane forest bird watching experience with over 350 bird species and 23 endemic to the Albertine Rift. While trekking through the Bwindi forests, you will come across the habituated gorillas in groups which can be found in Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga. On your way back to Kampala, there will be a cultural tour to Igongo cultural centre in Mbarara to learn about the Bahima /Ankole Culture.

TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Kampala to Kibale forest National Park
Leave Kampala after breakfast for the fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta to Kibale National Park just under the Rwenzori Mountains. Afternoon guided walk in the crater lakes for outstanding birding experience and sightseeing.
Accommodation at Kibale forest Camp (Standard), Mountains of the Moon Hotel (Comfort), Papaya Lake lodge (Luxury).

Day 2: Kibale forest – Semliki National Park
An early morning entrance to Kibale forest for combined primate walk and birding. Here you will come across the following key species of birds: White Collard Olive back, Leaf Love, African Broadbill, Willcock’s Honey guide, Green Breasted Pitta, African Pitta, Grey Winged Robin, Red Winged Francolin, Joyful Greenbul, White Bellied Crested Flycatcher, Uganda Woodland Warbler, Abyssinian Ground Thrush, Red Chested Fluftail, Grey Winged Robin, White Napped Pigeon, and Chestnut- Winged Starling. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, visit Bigodi Sanctuary. Here, We will be able to see the fruiting trees, which attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-billed Barbets and have an evening drive to Semliki Wildlife reserve. A night game drive in Semliki to view nocturnal is a must.

Day 3: Semliki National Park
Morning breakfast close to the pool and watch as the Hamerkop dips into the water and the Weaver birds flock nearby. A boat trip on Lake Albert to see the Shoebill and a picnic is amazing. The key species here include the African Pygmy Goose, Red-necked Falcon, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Blue-Breasted Bee-Eater, Black-billed Barbet, Piapiac, Leaflover and Black-chinned Quail-Finch.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the foothills of the ‘Mountains of the Moon and many birds as you enter the park. After lunch a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel to view and photograph hippos, buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, warthogs and a variety of bird life such as Great White and Pink-backed Pelicans, Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, Open-billed Stork, African Jacana, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth national park
An early sunrise Birding drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile to view savannah birds. You will view the Birds en route to your accommodation for lunch. After lunch, sightseeing around the crater region and baboon cliffs. Evening walk to the bird hide out is rewarding before retiring for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi forest
After breakfast drive to Bwindi via Ishasha sector an area famous for the rare tree climbing lions. Key birds which may be seen include: African Skimmer, Black Rumped Button Quail, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, Red Footed Falcon, Lesser Flamingos, Grey Capped Warbler, White’s and Abdim’s Storks (in season), Amur Falcon, Ovampo Sparrow hawk, Woolly-necked and Saddle-billed Storks, and numerous classes of Raptors, Vultures and Plovers. Continue on to Bwindi via Ishasha road.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking Bwindi
Early morning entry into the Gorilla sanctuary after a briefing from the park authorities. Carry along with you a rain jacket, jungle boots, enough drinking water and snacks. Enjoy gorilla tracking and at the same time birding, common birds found include; blue turaco

Day 8: Bwindi – Kampala/Entebbe
After an early breakfast drive back to Kampala with a visit to Igongo Cultural village to explore and learn the Bahima and Ankole culture. This is the place where the future meets the past. Continue your drive to the Equator crossing with your lunch en-route before you drive to back to Kampala/Entebbe to catch up your evening flight back home.
