Introduction
The 10 Days Uganda & Rwanda Tour is an adventurous journey that combines the highlights of both countries. It gives you the chance to encounter the famous mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, golden monkeys, and other primates, while also enjoying game drives, cultural tours, and breathtaking scenery. This safari is ideal for travelers who want to experience the best of East Africa’s wildlife and culture in a single trip.
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your driver-guide. You will transfer to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, you may opt for a short tour around Entebbe, such as visiting the Botanical Gardens or Lake Victoria. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park – Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After an early breakfast, you will set off for Murchison Falls National Park. En route, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided walk to track rhinos. Continue with the journey, stopping in Masindi for lunch, before entering the park. Visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge with thunderous power. Dinner and overnight at your lodge in the park.
Day 3: Game Drive and Nile Boat Safari
Start the day with a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, leopards, and a variety of antelopes. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation.
In the afternoon, take a boat safari along the Nile to the base of the falls. Look out for crocodiles, hippos, and elephants, as well as water birds like kingfishers and fish eagles. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will drive southwards to Kibale Forest National Park, often called the “primate capital of East Africa.” This scenic journey passes through tea plantations, traditional villages, and crater lakes. Lunch en route before arriving at your lodge near Kibale. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk
After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering the forest for chimpanzee tracking. Accompanied by rangers, you will follow trails to find the chimps and spend an hour watching them.
In the afternoon, you will explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community conservation project known for birdlife, primates, and cultural encounters. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. The drive takes you through the scenic hills of southwestern Uganda, with lunch en route. You will arrive at your lodge near Bwindi by evening, where you will have dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek can take 2–6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement. Once you locate them, you are allowed one magical hour observing their behavior and taking photos.
After the trek, return to the lodge for relaxation. Optional activities include visiting the Batwa community for cultural experiences. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
After breakfast, cross into Rwanda through Cyanika or Katuna border and continue to Volcanoes National Park, home of golden monkeys and gorillas on the Rwandan side. Arrive at your lodge in Musanze (near the park) in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Golden Monkey Trekking & Cultural Visit
Today you will enjoy golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park. These rare primates are playful and fun to watch as they jump through the bamboo forests.
In the afternoon, you may visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you will learn about Rwanda’s traditions, dances, and crafts. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 10: Transfer to Kigali – City Tour & Departure
After breakfast, you will drive to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a short Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, and craft shops. You will then be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 10 Days Uganda & Rwanda Tour.
