Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi/Mgahinga National Park
Your driver-guide will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali. After a short briefing, you will embark on a scenic drive northwards to the Cyanika or Katuna border crossing into Uganda.
The journey offers breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and Uganda’s terraced highlands. After clearing with immigration, you will proceed to your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Arrive in the afternoon, check in at the lodge, and relax while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Virunga ranges or Bwindi’s dense forests. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will then be allocated a gorilla family and begin your trek into the forest.
The trek may last 2–6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement. Along the way, you will encounter rich biodiversity, including forest birds, butterflies, primates, and breathtaking vegetation. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence, observing their behavior, taking photos, and enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before driving back to Kigali. You will be dropped at your hotel or Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your 2 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari from Kigali.
