Introduction
The 3 Days Uganda Big Five Safari takes you to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most visited park, for an opportunity to see Africa’s iconic Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos. The trip also includes a visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to Uganda’s only wild rhinos, and a boat cruise along the River Nile to the base of the thunderous Murchison Falls.
This short safari is perfect for travelers with limited time but who want a full wildlife experience in Uganda.
Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls
After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from Kampala or Entebbe by your safari driver-guide. The journey begins with a drive northwards to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will enjoy a guided walking safari to track the southern white rhinos. This completes the first of the Big Five.
After rhino tracking, you will continue your journey to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop in Masindi for lunch. On arrival, you will visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the mighty River Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge, creating a powerful waterfall. You will later proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Nile Boat Cruise
You will rise early for a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, where most wildlife congregates. Expect to see lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, and various antelope species. The vast savannah plains and acacia woodlands make this a prime spot for photography.
In the afternoon, you will go on a boat cruise along the River Nile to the base of the falls. The cruise offers sightings of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and plenty of waterbirds. You will also enjoy breathtaking views of the falls as the Nile plunges into a 45-meter gorge. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, you will check out and begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. Along the way, you may have optional stops for craft shopping or photography. You will arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your 3 Days Uganda Big Five Safari.
