Introduction

The 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari is the perfect short adventure for travelers who wish to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Uganda is home to half of the world’s remaining gorilla population, making it one of the most popular destinations for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. This trip is ideal for tourists with limited time but who desire a memorable and immersive wildlife adventure.

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins with a pick-up from Entebbe or Kampala by a professional guide. After a short briefing, you embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the UNESCO World Heritage Site that shelters the rare mountain gorillas.

The journey takes you through Uganda’s countryside, with rolling hills, banana plantations, and traditional homesteads. Along the way, you may stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe for photographs and cultural exploration. Lunch is served en route in Mbarara or Kabale before continuing to Bwindi.

By evening, you will check in at your lodge near Bwindi, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the thrilling gorilla trekking adventure the following day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, you proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track, and with the help of rangers and guides, you begin the trek through dense rainforest.

The trek may take 2–6 hours depending on the gorilla family’s movement. Along the way, you encounter rich biodiversity, including forest elephants, birds, butterflies, and other primates. Once you find the gorillas, you are allowed one magical hour in their presence, observing their behaviors, interactions, and lifestyle.

This close encounter is often described as life-changing and is the highlight of the safari. After trekking, you return to the lodge for relaxation. In the afternoon, you can opt for a community visit to the Batwa pygmies for cultural experiences, traditional dances, and storytelling.

Day 3: Departure Back to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, you check out from the lodge and begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. The drive again offers scenic views and opportunities to stop for crafts and souvenirs. Lunch is served en route before you arrive at your drop-off point in the evening.

This marks the end of your 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari, leaving you with unforgettable memories of close encounters with the gentle giants of Bwindi.
