Introduction
The 2 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari is a short but exciting adventure designed for travelers with limited time who wish to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas. This trip takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population.
Though brief, the safari offers an unforgettable experience of trekking deep into the rainforest and spending an hour in the company of these gentle giants.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your safari begins early in the morning with a pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe by your driver-guide. After a short briefing, you will embark on a scenic journey to southwestern Uganda. The drive takes you through rolling hills, banana plantations, and lively towns.
Along the way, you will have a stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe for photos and a brief cultural experience. You will then continue through Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale, with lunch en route. By evening, you will arrive in Bwindi and check in at your lodge.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge, as you prepare for the highlight of your safari—gorilla trekking.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Return to Kampala/Entebbe
After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will then be assigned a gorilla family and set off into the dense rainforest for your trek.
The trek can last between 2–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement. Along the way, you may encounter other primates, forest birds, butterflies, and breathtaking scenery. Once you find the gorilla family, you will spend one magical hour observing their behavior, taking photos, and enjoying the close connection with these endangered primates.
After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch before beginning your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, marking the end of your 2 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari.
